It’s been a long day and we are now relaxing and playing games with our new fellow conformands here at Westwood UCC. Today we returned to serve at the Access Center OPCC, as part of the hand to hand project. There we set up tables and served the homeless restaurant style. We had a great time meeting everyone and even a few special people ready to share a special message (which you will hear about soon enough). When we finished up we took off to have lunch and head to Venice Beach for shopping and beach fun. The water was cold but the sun was surely out because it left its mark on most of our faces:) All sandy and salty showers were next, so we drove to the YMCA to clean off before dinner. Everything was going swimmingly, until we were all mid shower and soaking wet… because the fire alarm went off. Lights were flashing and bells were ringing while staff flooded the locker room stopping us mid shower. We threw on our towels on and with wet hair and just our towels we exited the building. Standing right in front of street in just our towels. So we stood there, and waited. A few minutes later the firemen showed up to put out the unseen fire. So we stood there some more, still wet in our towels and sand still in our hair. It ended up being a false alarm from a smoker in the lobby (who probably wasn’t suppose to be there) and the smoke drifted to the second floor. After the coast was clear we were moved into the lobby to wait some more before the showers would open again. Eventually everything was opened and we could all finish our showers even if we ended up an hour late to dinner and our next activity. But hey it’s all part of the adventure is it not? So we will continue our adventure here in California exploring Hollywood tomorrow and end the day with a campfire at the beach:) Can’t wait to say hi to everybody at Children’s Time:)
