Have a great trip KUCC youth. Parents and loved ones, check back here during the week for updates from California.
Today we started our morning calling back to KUCC during children’s’ time, so we hope you were able to see our happy, tan faces:) Anyway today we were fortunate enough to be able to worship with Westwood UCC, and celebrate the confirmation of their conformands. It was a great service and they did many things that we did in our confirmation service. We even got to jam out to “Lean on Me” (chosen by one of their conformands) to end the service. For lunch we ate at the famous IN-N-OUT BURGER, and it’s really good. Enough said. After an amazing lunch we hit the sidewalks to check out the stars names in Hollywood, and see the sign which is hard to pass up when you find yourself in California. To end the day we went to Dockweiler Beach, where we had a picnic dinner around a fire pit on the beach. Everything was beautiful and the airplanes would fly over us since we were right next to LAX. Disneyland tomorrow:))) Can’t wait!
For Issac; we took a picture of
Chuck Norris’ Hollywood Star just
for you:)
(P.S. Betsy has just told us everything she can see inside of us, which makes me smile because she sees the true us

It’s been a long day and we are now relaxing and playing games with our new fellow conformands here at Westwood UCC. Today we returned to serve at the Access Center OPCC, as part of the hand to hand project. There we set up tables and served the homeless restaurant style. We had a great time meeting everyone and even a few special people ready to share a special message (which you will hear about soon enough). When we finished up we took off to have lunch and head to Venice Beach for shopping and beach fun. The water was cold but the sun was surely out because it left its mark on most of our faces:) All sandy and salty showers were next, so we drove to the YMCA to clean off before dinner. Everything was going swimmingly, until we were all mid shower and soaking wet… because the fire alarm went off. Lights were flashing and bells were ringing while staff flooded the locker room stopping us mid shower. We threw on our towels on and with wet hair and just our towels we exited the building. Standing right in front of street in just our towels. So we stood there, and waited. A few minutes later the firemen showed up to put out the unseen fire. So we stood there some more, still wet in our towels and sand still in our hair. It ended up being a false alarm from a smoker in the lobby (who probably wasn’t suppose to be there) and the smoke drifted to the second floor. After the coast was clear we were moved into the lobby to wait some more before the showers would open again. Eventually everything was opened and we could all finish our showers even if we ended up an hour late to dinner and our next activity. But hey it’s all part of the adventure is it not? So we will continue our adventure here in California exploring Hollywood tomorrow and end the day with a campfire at the beach:) Can’t wait to say hi to everybody at Children’s Time:)

Ever since we landed at LAX, it has been mind-blowing.California is like, the most interesting place I’ve ever been. Santa Monica beach is just awesome. It’s the prettiest place everBeing here has been a total blast! There has been a ton of things that we’ve done. We’ve gone to the beach, the grocery store, and the YMCA! Who knew that there was all of this fun stuff out here? The people who I’ve been with have also been a lot of fun. My favorite part so far has been the beach. – Halsey
I’ve been waiting for this trip for a long time, and being here in California with the friends I’ve gotten to know so well is living up to be even better than I could ever imagine. We’ve been working at various shelters the past few days helping the homeless with the OPCC organization here in California. From working in the kitchen, and handing out lunches to speaking with people and hearing their stories our mission to help these people has been truly inspiring. Everyone has a story to tell and a “thanks” give for our service, their lives are what we are here for and helping them is such a rewarding experience. Aside from working we have been exploring California and there is still more fun to be had. on our first day we made it to the Pacific Ocean to run around and we are going to the Santa Monica Beach today. The trip has been absolutely amazing and we are blessed to have the privilege to make this trip possible:) Thanks Everyone for Your Support! – Erin
hey it’s me Caleb. I found my squirrel today and I fed it a cheese stick from my hand!

We will meet at KUCC on Wednesday, June 2nd at 4:15 am (I’m already yawning…) to carpool; and will leave KUCC at 4:30 am. Rick Happel, Elaine Stanley, and the Engel’s will be transporting us to the airport. We will have boarding passes ready for travelers when we arrive at the airport. We will start going through security as a group shortly after 5:00 am, and will be boarding Southwest Flight #1517 around 6:00 am.
Remember to bring some form of identification. If you are under 18, it does not need to be a photo ID.
In California we only have two mini vans for 11 people, so pack light. Here are the baggage restrictions for Southwest Airlines…
http://www.southwest.com/travel_center/baggage.html?int=GSUBNAV-AIR-BAGGAGE-INFO If you find yourself with a bag and half, get with a friend and try to combine gear.
Airport security can be pretty strict on what you can have in your carry-on luggage. However, recently they haven’t been enforcing the liquids and gels rule to the letter. None the less if you are bringing that very special bottle of shampoo, you may want to put it into your checked luggage. These TSA web sites have all the details…

We return to the East Terminal on Southwest flight 982 at 6:55 pm on Tuesday, June 8th. Elaine and Rick and the Engel’s will be available to pick us up at the airport and transport us to KUCC. We’ll call you to confirm, but I’d anticipate arriving back at KUCC between 8:00 and 8:30 pm on June 8th.
